To celebrate the US DVD and Blu-Ray release of Edgar Wright’s audiovisual take on the Scott Pilgrim series of graphic novels, Microsoft have discounted the film’s rather excellent retro game tie-in.

While we in South Africa are still patiently waiting for the god-damned cinematic release, we can make that wait easier by playing the game; a retro beat‘em up in the vein of classic RPG-lite NES brawler River City Ransom. It’s available this week for the low price of just 400 Microsoft Space Pennies, a saving of 50%.

Although it doesn’t have online co-op, it does feature some of the most fun 4 player couch co-op you’ll experience this year. It’s highly recommended – and for this price? Doubly so. Xbox Live Gold members have until November 15 to get it at this reduced price. It is, at time of writing, unfortunately not available on the ZA Marketplace.

Editor. I'm old, grumpy and more than just a little cynical. One day, I found myself in possession of a NES, and a copy of Super Mario Bros 3. It was that game that made me realise that games were more than just toys to idly while away time - they were capable of being masterpieces. I'm here now, looking for more of those masterpieces.
