Microsoft has updating their Xbox Live Terms of Use (TOU). However, in order to avoid any possible frustrations and heartaches, they have put out a PSA announcing the new terms and explaining them. Loving the transparency!
Announced through an Xbox Wire, the new Xbox Live TOU asks all users to keep their contact information up to date. This is a way to ensure that security proofs are valid and can be checked against other applications. That’s right, it looks like Xbox Live will now chat to Netflix to make sure there isn’t any fraud against your account:
More app experiences available via Xbox Live are provided by a partner with whom you may have a separate online account. If you choose to link this account with your Xbox Live account, we confirm key data points across the accounts by sharing data such as your name, address, email address and date of birth with the partner. In this TOU update, customers agree to allow Microsoft to share this information in this manner.
They are definitely sending out this PSA to ensure that people don’t get locked out of their accounts due to mismatching information. So, this may be the right time to go check that all your details match up. I know sometimes spouses use one person as the Xbox Live account, while the other is the Netflix account. Not sure how the TOU will handle that, or if it’s time to pick some details and stick with them.

Does this mean that eventually I will have to update the details on my XBL UK account to be accurate and migrate over to an SA XBL account?
I did notice that with the move from points to local currency, it is getting harder to use a UK account.
A lot of places are only selling local gift cards now 🙁
By the way, how is the current SA Xbox Live these days?
Is it still missing a lot of features and games?
Is some DLC still delayed on the SA XBL from it’s original release date compared to the rest of the world?
