Eternal Conflict

Next week, on the 1st of July, Heroes of the Storm will receive a large Diablo-themed content patch. Don’t feel like waiting that long to get your hands on it? Good! Blizzard want your help in testing the game’s newest patch now. To do so, you’ll need to enable the Public Test Realm.

Here’s a blurb from the announcement:

We’ve enabled the Public Test Realm for the next seven days so that we can ensure the stability of our next Heroes of the Storm patch, as well as offer you a chance to test some of the new content and changes it contains before the update is released next week.

Interested? Follow these steps simple steps:

  • Click the Region/Account dropdown list found just above the big blue “Play” button.
  • Select “PTR: Heroes of the Storm” from the top of the list, and then click “Install”.
  • Once your installation completes, simply click “Play” to log in to the PTR.

PTR

Playing the PTR grants access to all the new content before its official release, which is nice. There is a downside though…

Players will still have access to their heroes, skins, and mounts, but levels, gold, and progression obtained in the core game will not be carried over to the PTR. Likewise, anything unlocked in PTR will not be transfer back over to the latest version of the game.

Why even bother then? Well, lack of progress aside, joining the PTR will let you play the latest battleground, Eternal Conflict. It looks to be the best Heroes of the Storm map yet! Check it out:

There are also a bunch of balance and talent changes coming to Heroes of the Storm which can be tested in the PTR. They are far too lengthy to list here, so be sure to check them out in the link above!

As excited as I am for the new patch, I don’t think I’ll be enabling the PTR. I’ll wait, patiently. What about you? Are you keen to have access to all the things this instant, or can you wait too?
