You can kill kids in Red Dead Redemption

RedDeadRedemption

There is a slightly disturbing story doing the round at the moment, Josh Garibay from JustPushStart has managed to find a way to not only kill innocents in Red Dead Redemption but to also slit his a childs throat in the game.

Let’s get this out the way first. This is a glitch, the game doesn’t actually allow you to kill the innocents and even if you glitch it to make it happen you still die and respawn back to when you weren’t an ass.

This glitch however is obviously going to be picked up by the conservative papers and anti-gaming people all over the world and once again Rockstar will be in the limelight for all the wrong reasons when it comes to violent games.

If you’re in the mood for killing innocents all you need to do is pull out your shotgun and fire away next to your target. The spread of the blast will damage them and you can then finish them off.

The knife kill comes up if you attempt to stab them once, the knife will go through them as if they weren’t there then a prompt appears asking you if you want to silent kill them.

I expect Rockstar to patch this pretty quickly but in their defence it’s not like you are meant to be able to do this and they do make you suffer for killing innocents so it’s not allowed.

In a stroke of luck a Rockstar developer Lazlow has been answering some of the BBC’s questions and when probed about the fact that kids can be affected by the violence in game he had the following to say

“Our games are not designed for young people. If you’re a parent and buy one of our games for your child you’re a terrible parent”

That’s pretty straight forward and easy to understand now isn’t it.

Be warned the original site has some story line spoilers if you are thinking about clicking through.
