After yesterdays leaked announcement about Call of Duty Elite and it’s possible pricing the Internet had a mini implosion with people worried that this signalled the beginning of the end and that Activision would start charging for the online ability of Call of Duty.

However this is not the case and Activision has come out once again to confirm that you will not need to pay any extra to play Call of Duty online and that the Elite functionality is simply an overlay onto the original experience.

Jamie Berger, VP of Digital at Activision had the following to say at an event last night

There has been a lot of speculation on this point, but Call of Duty does not, and will not charge you to play multiplayer, and that is our continued commitment to our players.

We have tens of millions of players playing Call of Duty every month, we know that group of people is too large and too diverse to create a one seize fits all pricing strategy.

We know that when our fans buy Call of Duty, they expect to be able to play the full game out of the box at no additional charge, in both single player, co-op and the best multiplayer in the world. That is our continued commitment to that.

So relax, for now there are no plans to start charging you for your online Call of Duty experience.
