Battlefield: Hardline pushed back to 2015

Do you feel that? Does your wallet feel lighter? Did it just let out a huge sigh of relief? It could be because October just became not one, but two games lighter. We already know that Dragon Age: Inquisition has been delayed by  month, but the release window for Battlefield: Hardline is a lot less certain.

EA announced last night that Battlefield: Hardline has been delayed to an unspecified date in 2015. The game was originally going to be released in October this year, with the game focusing on extremely explosive police work.

Battlefield 4 had a disastrous launch last year, and highlighted just how willing EA was to push a product out the door annually instead of waiting for it to be finished. That ethos has changed at the publisher, with CEO Andrew Wilson explaining earlier this year that they will be more open to delaying titles that aren’t ready. After the recent Hardline beta, that’s probably the feedback that EA got.

The Battlefield: Hardline beta created a few problems for the game, with many calling it a glorified expansion. I admit, I had the same feelings towards it. The two multiplayer modes didn’t feel that different, and the game looked and felt exactly like Battlefield 4 with a bit of a reskin. Definitely not something that I’d consider a sequel, and that’s one of the reasons why EA decided to delay the title.

They also cite stability issues and single-player depth as core reasons, and you can read the full post about the delay here. We’re not sure exactly when Hardline will release now, but we do know that there isn’t a Battlefield title releasing in 2014. Not exactly the worst news you could’ve dreaded today.

  1. Good, the fear of another BF4 cockup is a great motivation for them

Because people would rather have a lime than a lemon.

This is the best part “that they will be more open to delaying titles that aren’t ready”
So they will consider not releasing a untested unfinished game to the market? Goodness me it’s amazing how professional EA is.

It’s like they’re trying new things to discover what makes a good game.

Especially while they still try to figure out what made Bad Company so popular.

Why do I get the feeling it will be pushed back a few more times?
It’ll probably be released either October 2015 or sometime in 2016. Hopefully.

I remember when I was young & optimistic. It was the 80’s & Jane Fonda was hot.

It’s been so long since I was optimistic…
I think it might have been back when I was 5 but I could be wrong.

Oh so EA does know that you can delay a game so that developers can finish the game and work out bugs. Yes, don’t repeat what happened with Battlefield 4, EA’s stock dropped.

So we might get two Battlefield games in one year 😛

No Battlefield and Need For Speed this year. Guess that serves them right for dumping Wii U support 😛

EA wants developers to release a Battlefield game every two years. The Battlefield creatures like to improve and built new gaming engines, to push gaming forward. If EA wants to release a Battlefield game every two years, then the developers are going to become stuck the same way that Call of Duty has been stuck for the last 8 years.

So after what happened with Battlefield 4, the game not being ready for release. I think Hardline will be next years Battlefield game and Battlefield 5 will be 2016’s Battlefield game. I don’t think there will be 2 Battlefield games next year. 2 years is just not enough for these developers that tries to always push the envelope.

So, EA, when it comes to the Battlefield develops, just let them do their thing and wait till they done. Then we all will be happy.

The developers don’t know why people loved Bad Company 2 so much and they don’t know to replicate what people loved in BC2 to make a Bad Company 3.
