You won’t be able to play The Evil Within at 60fps

Tew30fps

The Evil Within is out, and unfortunately for PC gamers, is locked to 30fps like it is on the console versions. That’s ok though right? Bethesda’s given you some debugging options that’ll allow you to run the game the way it’s mean to on a pc; with a gloriously unlocked frame rate, right? Weeellll no. While the option exists, you’re going to have to duct-tape seventeen Nvidia Titans together to get it to run at 1080p at a constant, buttery smooth 60fps.

That’s according to the chaps at Eurogamer, who paired the game with some of the finest PC gaming hardware; a Core i7 3770K overclocked to 4.3GHz and matched with 16GB of DDR3 and an Nvidia GTX 980, which is the fastest single GPU card on the planet right now. They were unable to get a smooth, consistent 60fps at 1080p running the sort of computer system that could operate NASA. This is on an engine that was designed from the ground up to run everything at 60fps – so whatever Tango Gameworks have done to the engine can only be described, aptly I suppose,  as “butchering.”

What it is, is little more than poor optimisation of a poor console port. This is exactly the sort of thing we were all hoping to avoid this generation, with the new consoles running on what is essentially PC hardware, programmed using API’s that are similar enough to their PC counterparts. Instead. PC gamers are still getting the short end of the stick – once again. While frame rate and resolution are not the be-all-and-end-all when it comes to games, if you’re a PC gamer who’s spent a fortune on cutting edge hardware, having the games you play perform and look at their best is a pretty reasonable expectation. Others though, think PC gamers shouldn’t care.

On to the game itself; The Evil Within has been getting mixed reviews, with some hailing it as a return to form for the survival horror genre, while others think it’s less scary than the prospect of seeing Darryn without any clothes on. I’m very much in the latter camp.

How does it actually run at 30fps?Are the controls shitty too? Is the framerate inconsistent on 30fps too? They did come out and say it won’t run well on 60fps. If the game runs kak on 30fps then its a shitty port though.

The human eye cannot detect any difference with anything greater than 24 frames per second. Since this is not an online game, IT DOESNT MATTER . Learn

What a “dumbass”. If you really believe the human eye can not distinguish frames above 24 fps. Then you need to go see a doctor. Do yourself a favor stop spreading misinformation and cite your sources.

http://boallen.com/fps-compare.html (Then if you don’t see the difference. You seriously need to get your eyes checked, preferably your brain.)

but the way their frames are done is different as the frames have blur between them in films, where as games are a slideshow, look at this link 🙂 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n00qUDL0Cxg. you wont be able to see the 60FPS as its on youtube but hopefully it will help you to understand the difference 🙂

Damn if the 750ti reaches 30fps, the 980 should be hitting 90-100 easily :/
    Shitty port is shitty.

Meanwhile the human eye can not detect any difference above 24 frames per second, and this is not an online game so no network latency is involved , noob.

I have played the game to the start of chapter 4 on survival mode. I have everything set to max with AA turned down. I kept the shadows on high because it plays a big part in the atmosphere of the game. Runs ok on my 560ti. There is certainly a certain amount of stutter at times but considering the pace of the game its not been a problem so far. There are some minor texture popin but nothing too serious. The game goes for a cinematic feel with a widscreen view and its heavly grained unless you turn it off. I can understand why its capped on 30fps since its all about the cinematic feel.

That said, relax everyone, the parts I played looked great with more focus on artistic design and atmosphere than maximum texture resolution. The environments just feel right if you know what I mean. So far I love the game, its quite old school and had me running away like a little girl on many occasions. Its comparable to dead space 1 in gameplay. You always know the exact the amount of ammo and health packs you have and you cheer every bullet you pick up and curse every missed shot.

There are bigger problems that hold you back than 30fps like opening up a door slowly while running away from an oke chasing you with a chainsaw.

.Idk, I see no difference with all 3. FPS makes only a big difference in first person shooters tbh.

Uhhh… I’ve been playing it at 60 fps, on my stream, for days now. What? I use a 560 Ti. There are plenty of 30 fps moments, but overall its about 50-60 steady. Maybe people should learn to make a better setup I guess.

Once the PC mod community gets a hold of it, it’ll be fine. PC Modders > All games developers combined, apparently.

The human eye cannot detect any difference above 24 frames per second. The only time fps will make a difference above 24fps is with online gaming where network latency is involved ……….. people are dumb. THis game is not an online game. It could be fking 24 frames per second and playable with the full experience. Dumb people listening to marketing buzz who don’t know anything.
