Folklore Reviews coming in… mixed basket

1 min read

Metacritic has started posting the reviews it has received for Folklore and so far it very much depends on who you want to listen to…

If you are a fan of Play magazine then rush out now and pick this title up as they gave it 90 and said

Evoking a sense of otherworldliness is, I am assuming, the reason Folklore exists, and it succeeds at this in an almost heartbreakingly beautiful way no other game ever has.

Sounds awesome, however if you trust Eurogamer then this game needs to be avoided like the plague, they gave it 50 and said

Folklore turns out to be one part boring adventure game, one part underdeveloped collect-em up, and one part standard dungeon crawl. The only aspect of the game that rises above the mundane is its technical polish and the vibrant creativity with which its imaginary worlds have been created – the vivid luminescence of the Fairy World, or the scratchy, Ian Miller-esque authenticity of the War World for example.

Computer and video games gave it 80 and PSM3 gave it 69. I watched a trailer a while back and it looked pretty good. It’s not my type of game really but it did seem to offer the standard adventure/rpg action that was to be excepted.

Folklore gets released on the 9th of October in the US, we should follow quickly after that. This is a PS3 exclusive.

The only old ones are the CVG and Eurogamer ones, the other two have not been published yet 😉

Maybe ocelot would care to post some recent reviews if he seems to be on the loop here?
