Zero Punctuation: Mirror's Edge

By Gavin Mannion

Surprise surprise, Yahtzee was not a fan of Mirror’s Edge.  Well did anyone expect anything different? and yes I am bitter that he didn’t like my game but I will get over it. All in all it’s a decent one this week but the fact that I can’t embed the video means that this may be the last one until …

Mirror's Edge suffers from terribly low sales

By Nick De Bruyne

Mirror's Edge is the latest title to come out of DICE studios and has been hailed and nailed for being incredibly or even overly innovative. I spent quite a lot of time with the game over this last week and while the main storyline is pretty short, I found the experience to be quite breathtaking and the time trials a whole bunch of fun on their own. The game isn't perfect but it got me quite excited at the thought of how much more can be done with the concept in future. Problem is, I don't know if I am ever going to find out. As you can see from the title, the first week of sales for Mirror's Edge have been really bad. How bad, you may ask? Reports have come in showing that in it's first week in Europe, the game only managed to sell an embarrassingly low total of just on 30, 000 copies. Now, even if you aren't that clued in about game sales, it's not hard to figure out that when a game only sells 30,000 copies in the whole of Europe, it has failed miserably. With so many big titles sitting on the shelves at the moment, it's not that difficult to see why the sales are so low but it is still sitting significantly lower than what I had originally anticipated. If you are interested in the game, I highly recommend that you try the demo first. I found it to be an exhilarating experience but at the same time, I could see why many other gamers might find it frustrating and strange.

I can’t help it, I am excited about this game. I know I have a terrible track record and me being excited about a game is normally a death knoll but this game looks like so much fun and I am still addicted to that demo. Keep the Faith. Last Updated: November 8, 2008

Cliff Blezinski just doesn’t get Mirror’s Edge

By Gavin Mannion

Some people are good at everything they do and others are just great at certain things, Cliff Blezinski appears to be falling into the latter category after reading his comments about Mirror’s Edge “I think Mirror’s Edge will be great, too, but they’re showing me too much parkour, I want to see the gunplay. I hope it’s not all just …

This just makes me so happy, After a slow couple of news days it seems that we have a little bit of excitement coming back into the industry. Ray Maguire, from the black team, has been chatting to Videogamer.com about how he feels the PS3 now has a large enough install base for third party developers to start using it …

Unfortunately unless you pre-ordered from an American retailer you are most probably not going to be getting a key to unlock the time trial option. With that in mind here is a video of what you can’t have, while that may be mean it does at least give us mere mortals the chance to see the Time Trial option which …

The Mirror’s Edge demo was finally released this week and I started the download with a little apprehension as I was really looking forward to this game but wasn’t sure if they would be able to pull it off. Well to cut to the chase, the game is awesome. The demo is horribly intelligently short and really helps build the …
