[Update] Game Prices After October 27

By Nick De Bruyne
October 17, 2008

Earlier today we posted that game prices will be seeing a hike as of the 27th of October. While we were worried that games may be seeing as much as R850 per title, it looks like we might be able to relax a little bit. South African distributor Megarom have seen the article and have sent me a price list of the titles that will be releasing after that date and I can happily say that while the price increase will still happen, we won't likely be seeing the prices that we feared. Prices and more after the jump. From what I have seen on this price list, there will be no standard titles that will exceed the R699 mark. Here is a list of some of the big titles coming from Megarom. If any other distributors would like to clarify any of there RRP's please feel free to mail me at nick@lazygamer.co.za. End of October: James Bond - Quantum of Solace: R679 Fallout 3 - R679.00 Legendary - R679.00 November: Tom Clancy's End War - R699.00 Call of Duty: World at War - R679.00 Guitar Hero World Tour - Standalone Game - R679.00 Shaun White Snowboarding - R699.00 Naruto - The Broken Bond - R699.00 December Prince of Persia - R699.00 So there you have it folks, while the prices are going up, they are at least not going to be going up to what we had feared which is a bit less of a kick in the pants from the economic crisis. Also, many people are reporting to us that preorder prices are not looking like they are going to be locked down at all in most cases, so be advised.

Bioshock 2 Teaser Trailer

By Nick De Bruyne

Sneaky sneaky, the developers of Bioshock have included a teaser trailer of Bioshock 2 into the game when you finish it on the new Playstation 3 version. For those of you who cannot view videos at work, the video shows a not-so little sister standing staring out into the ocean whilst holding a Big Daddy doll. As the camera pans out behind her, a small scale "sandcastle" version of Rapture starts being pushed up out of the sand. More details after the jump. The game will apparently be taking place on the Atlantic coast and by the looks of things, this "little" sister could mean trouble. There are no details on what platforms it will be available for first but we can probably assume that it will release on both the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3 simultaneously. Exciting stuff, I wonder if they will make that doll apart of the Limited Edition. That would be pretty damn cool.

Gears of War 2 and Far Cry 2 Leaked. A sad day for gaming.

By Nick De Bruyne

far-cry-broken-release.jpg You know... this is starting to get out of hand. Just last week I reported that Fallout 3 had already been leaked out onto the internet and now, Far Cry 2 and Gears of War 2 have joined them. The image above is actually from what seems to be a Gamestop manager and is not linked directly to the leaked games. (read more about them below). How does it feel to know that a whole group of pirate scumbags are already playing the games that you have been waiting for for so long. To make it worse, the leaching bastards didn't even pay for them. More after the jump. What kind of idiot gets a copy of a game and then actually dedicates some of his time to ripping it and uploading it to the internet. It has been reported that Gamestop managers had already received their copies of the game and now this happens. If it isn't this then it's game reviewers. Before we know it, sites like us are only going to receive review copies of games AFTER their release dates to stop idiots like that from getting it out onto the net, either that or they will need to start adding some sort of system and/or unique ID onto review copies to stop people from leaking games. Interestingly enough, it seems to be the Xbox 360 games leaking and not the PC ones. We all have to stand together and realise that we are only damaging ourselves. If you can't afford the game then you can't play it and that's that. There is a reason that we don't all drive Italian sports cars.

The Xbox 360 could run MGS4 just fine

By Nick De Bruyne

Now this just goes to show you just can’t keep a good rumour down.. It is quite obvious that is Microsoft pretty keen on getting a huge title like Metal Gear Solid 4 onto the Xbox 360. MCV UK reports that Xbox Live boss John Schappert has said that he would "love to see the game come to 360" and the went on about the machines "horsepower". This comes after Yoshitaka Arai apparently told a Japanese paper that "The worldwide demand for an Xbox 360 version of MGS4 is quite high, and it is something we are currently looking in to.” I think that if Konami doesn't do it then they are fools. More after the jump. Why wouldn't Konami release it for Xbox 360, especially if Microsoft is actually right and the machine can handle the demands of the games engine. The way I see it, the exclusivity has done it's job. Many PS3's were sold and everyone at Sony is happy. So why not release the game to an entire market of gamers who want nothing more than to play the game. It makes perfect business sense and will almost literally double the sales of the game, if not more when they open it up to a new market. Exclusives are starting to get on my nerves. Look at Bioshock, it is now being released on PS3 a year after the Xbox 360 version and those developers and publishers can look forward to a huge amount of sales for a lot less effort than it would require to completely build another game.

EndWar Demo Coming to PS3 after all

By Nick De Bruyne

You may remember that just yesterday, we reported that the EndWar demo was not going to be coming to the PS3. The reason? We still aren't sure but this is really getting my interest because I want to know why. Are we looking at a scenario where companies are actually starting to get paid to keep their demo's exclusive? Maybe what is happening is just a reaction from Ubisoft against all of the noise being made because of the exclusive demo. I am going to keep my eye on this one.

Gears 2 Flashback Map Comparison

By Nick De Bruyne
October 16, 2008
in :  Gaming

As most of you know, Gears of War 2 will be releasing with a code that will allow gamers to download the Flashback Map Pack that contains remade versions of maps from the original Gears of War. While we already knew about Gridlock, the new maps also include Tyro Station, Subway, Canals and Mansion. While having the older maps back is a great and all, I didn't fully understand how incredible they were going to look. Canals in the snow and Mansion without all of the stormy weather? Looking mighty fine. Don't believe me? Then check out all of the comparison images after the jump.
