A group of friends go on holiday to a remote cabin in the woods. Bad things start to happen. All things we have seen before in a typical slasher film before, right? Well for those of you that have seen it, you know that The Cabin In the Woods was anything but a typical slasher film. But don’t worry: No spoilers for director/co-writer Drew Goddard and writer Joss Whedon’s modern-day horror masterpiece here though. You’ll have to discover all that insanity yourself.
And you may have to hurry, because when asked if there could be sequel in a recent interview by Den of geek, Goddard had this to say.
The studio wants to do it. They’ve come to us. The funny part is, I don’t think we planned that movie to do a sequel, you know?
When it was suggested that the original didn’t leave many open ends, Goddard added the following.
It doesn’t. But that being said, the fun thing about Cabin is, the rules are pretty crazy. We get away with a lot of crazy stuff. So, I’m sure we could figure it out if we got inspired to. I know Joss and I both feel like we don’t want to tarnish what we did with the first one. With a sequel, we’d only do it if it made us laugh hard enough, I suppose.
With the way things ended in The Cabin In the Woods I cant see how a sequel would play out. But hey I was so surprised with that movie, who am I to say that Goddard and Whedon can\t pull it off again.
With all of that being said, there isn’t too much mentioned that would suggest we can expect this movie to be made anytime soon and I personally think it should not be at all.
