The marketing engine of Sony Pictures is in full swing here, as a certain friendly neighborhood Spider-Man starts crawling closer and closer to a release date.
It’s a fresh new start for the high-flying arachnid, and so far, director Marc Webb has weaved a film that looks like an entirely different beast when compared to the original Sam Raimi origin film.
There’s some new material included of our principle villain, played by Rhys Ifans, before he transforms into the Lizard, as well as a few glimpses of the Parker parents, right after the jump.
Looks spectacular so far, right? The Amazing Spider-Man stars Andrew Garfield, Martin Sheen, Sally Field, Emma Stone, Denis Leary, Irrfan Khan and Max Charles.

For me, that above photograph is always going to be the thing that troubles me about Spider-man and makes it somewhat less plausible than a story about a teenager with Superpowers deserves to be.
Look at the detail in that costume. The colours and the design. How long did he take to make that costume. If it were me, I would have gone to Ackerman’s and bought a red and blue top and a red and blue pair of track pants, painted a spider on the front and put on a red beanie with two holes cut out.
That kind of detailed costuming is far beyond anyone who isn’t a professional designer with the resources to spare and unless someone charitably had a costume made for him, it throws the whole notion of Peter Parker wide open

I know it’s all supposed to be comic book logic, but this is exactly the reason why I used to love Ben Reilly’s Scarlet Spider costume. Red unitard, blue sleeveless hoodie, spider logo drawn on, and done.
