15 minutes of The Last of Us

Our excitement for Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us (stupid Q&A sessions aside) is so infectious – it’s got many of the site’s most ardent PC adherents contemplating getting a PlayStation 3 just to play it. For good reason too; the game looks pretty damned incredible. Most of what we’ve seen though is exposition; story trailers and cinematics – and very little gameplay. That changes with this rather long, rather awesome gameplay demonstration that was shown off at PAX. Why we couldn’t see this instead of that constructed PR-driven Q&A session at Gamescom is beyond me – because this is the sort of stuff that would have gotten people talking.

Grab a cup of coffee (or cup-a-soup!), sit down, relax and enjoy. And when it’s all over, think about how you’re going to get yourself a PS3 before the game releases next year.

Editor. I’m old, grumpy and more than just a little cynical. One day, I found myself in possession of a NES, and a copy of Super Mario Bros 3. It was that game that made me realise that games were more than just toys to idly while away time – they were capable of being masterpieces. I’m here now, looking for more of those masterpieces.
