The leaked announcement of the PSP Go on Qore has added some weight to the previously denied rumour of a PS3 Slim that popped up a few weeks back.
Why? Well take a look at the image above of the packaging of the PSP Go compared to the rumoured packaging of the PS3 Slim, notice the same XMB style, model name in the bottom left. Bottom right stating storage siz and other interesting info. The hardware itself lying at the same angle on the box.
The more you look at it the more you can believe that these two are part of a new branding campaign and that they could be released together after E3.
While the idea of a PS3 Slim does nothing for me at all, the current PS3 is pretty enough, it does mean that Sony have found a way to cut down manufacturing costs and therefore it is reasonable to expect a price drop alongside this new version.
If they could slash $100 of the PS3 Slim and market it with Killzone 2 and LBP with the promise of God of War 3 and Uncharted 2 I think they could have a serious contender on their hands.
Sony are having their E3 moment on Tuesday so until then expect a round of mass refusals to comment.
