XCOM

On the 1st of January 2012 we were looking forward to playing XCOM this year, that was a good time long before we had to specify which XCOM it was or that we even knew a second one was coming.

However then a new XCOM was announced that was taking us back to the XCOM roots and was going to be a strategy game instead of the shooter title that we were expecting since E3 2010, but now there has been a delay… to the shooter title.

Yes unbelievably the title that has been in development since before E3 2010 has now been pushed into 2013 which makes me more than a little suspicious about the title.

There have been few, if any, titles that have suffered multiple delays and still managed to be really good on release and now that a XCOM strategy game is also coming I have little to no faith left in the XCOM shooter that was originally planned.

Which may be a good thing in the end, we have enough top quality shooters in the market at the moment and I’d much rather see a quality strategy game arrive rather than a sad attempt at cashing in on Call of Duties pedigree.

But you never know, IGN may have read the Game Informer magazine wrong and this could all be misunderstanding.
