Hugh Jackman dreams a dream, in these new Les Miserables pictures

You can keep your superheroes, dark knights and testorone laden ensemble cast filsm, because real men watch musicals. And nothing else is manlier, than seeing Wolverine and Superman’s daddy duke it out in in impoverished France with improvised sonnets, as these new pics from Les Miserables can attest to.

Based on the classic novel, Tom “Kings Speech” Hooper is hard at work adapting the musical free for all onto the big screen once again, as the tale of romance, action and drama makes itself known, from these set pics from USA Today.

Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, “Les Misérables” tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption–a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit.

Jackman plays ex-prisoner Jean Valjean, hunted for decades by the ruthless policeman Javert (Crowe) after he breaks parole. When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine’s (Hathaway) young daughter, Cosette, their lives change forever.

Personally, I’m just looking forward to seeing Jackman belt out a tune and a few southpaw hooks, when this film arrives in December.

I’ve (slightly embarressingly) always been a fan of Les Miserables. Even back when I pronounced it LESS MISERABLE’S.

It’s going to be interesting seeing Wolverine as Jean Valjean, but I’m not entirely convinced that the cast can pull off the melancholy required for this adaptation.

But wasn’t “‘n Lewe van Ellende” the story of Niklaas, the kid who just wanted to be an artist? He had the dog, Patrasch (or however you spelled it) and lived with his “Oupa”.

Oh sweet!! Somebody else who remembers the show. Just could not get the name of it right. So ” ‘n lewe van ellende” was dubbed from Les Miserables?
Been looking for this show and Niklaas for ages, but cannot find anything.
Any idea if these shows are available to buy or download anywhere?
