We haven’t seen much of Eli Roth lately. The man who brought extreme gore and torture to the big screen several years ago has kept low as of late, popping up like a groundhog looking for its shadow or Bill Murray. But he’s back! Acting in and helping to produce a disaster movie of all things.

But it looks like his bloody touch is more than present in Aftershock, as director Nicolas Lopez chornicles the events of the mother of all earthquakes, as well as what happens afterwards.

In Chile, a group of travelers who are in an underground nightclub when a massive earthquake hits quickly learn that reaching the surface is just the beginning of their nightmare.

I swear, it’s like I’m watching a horror movie where Mother Nature is the slasher for once. Only instead of having conveniently placed tree roots that trip people up just long enough for them to get stabbed, she’s planting stero speakers and masonry in their faces instead.

Aftershock also stars Andrea Osvárt, Ariel Levy and Selena Gomez. It’s out May 10 in the US of A, but local audiences will most likely have to wait a while longer to feel any tremors.
