I write a bunch of these news stories a day, so I always have to keep the creative juices flowing. Now this is sometimes no easy task, I’ll have you know, which is why I’m so grateful when a movie like The Counselor comes along.

You see, to get you to check out this new trailer – which comes packed with hot ladies, crazy hair, explosions, drug smuggling and a beheading by clothesline – I don’t have to think up any snarky one liner, any whimsical punchline. No, all I really have to do is list the utterly ridiculously star studded cast consisting of Michael Fassbender, Javier Bardem, Brad Pitt, Penélope Cruz and Cameron Diaz, and the fact that they’re in a movie directed by Ridley Scott and penned by Cormac McCarthy.

Legendary filmmaker Ridley Scott and Pulitzer Prize winning author Cormac McCarthy (“No Country for Old Men”) have joined forces in the motion picture thriller “The Counselor,” starring Michael Fassbender, Javier Bardem, Brad Pitt, Penélope Cruz, and Cameron Diaz. McCarthy, making his screenwriting debut and Scott interweave the author’s characteristic wit and dark humor with a nightmarish scenario, in which a respected lawyer’s dalliance with an illegal business deal spirals out of control.

This film is looking superb, and I’ll be damned if Cameron Diaz doesn’t look good getting her bitch on. Now while Scott has been a bit hit and miss over the last few years, Fassbender, Pitt and Bardem on the other hand, probably couldn’t turn in a bad performance between them even if they tried, and judging from the footage they’re not about to start on that crazy venture any time soon.

The Counselor’s is releasing internationally on October 25, 2013, but there’s no local release date yet, so there’s no telling when we’ll get to see whether Javier Bardem or Brad Pitt’s hair will win this showdown.
