Mark Strong is one of those actors who gives a – pardon the painfully obvious pun – strong performance no matter what pig swill of a film he currently finds himself in, and thus his name on a banner will always get my attention. The same goes for Brian Cox. Which is why despite the fact that their latest film, Mindscape (which also stars American Horror Story‘s Taissa Farmiga) may be borrowing a bit from Chris Nolan’s Inception, I’m still really intrigued to see it after this trailer.

Or maybe Strong just snuck into my brain and planted that thought there. Sneaky, Mark. Real damn sneaky.

A man with the ability to enter peoples’ memories takes on the case of a brilliant, troubled sixteen-year-old girl to determine whether she is a sociopath or a victim of trauma.

That looks like it has some potential, as long as it doesn’t go down the now awfully worn path of the innocent victim – PLOT TWIST! – turning out to be an evil mastermind after all! DUHN DUHN DUUUUHHHHNNN!

Also if you were wondering who Jaume Collett-Serra is and why he gets to present anything, he’s the director behind Orphan (so he knows a thing or two about creepy kids) and also the Liam Neeson twofer, Unknown and the upcoming Non-Stop (so he knows a thing or two about middle-aged men punching a thing or two). He’s producing and essentially put Mindscape together for director Jorge Dorado to direct, so expect to see his touch all over this one.

Mindscape currently doesn’t have a release date set yet… Or does it and I just made you think it doesn’t?

Nope, it really doesn’t.
