The more I hear about Ant-Man, the more I like it. You’ve got one of the best directors in the business today, Edgar Wright, on board to throw in some crazy visuals and hopefully some of that trademark charm of his into the film. You’ve got Paul Rudd, an underrated actor who is getting the big shot that he deserves in this movie and seasoned actor Michael Douglas lending some star power to the project.

And according to Douglas, this has been the kind of role that he has been pursuing for quite some time now.

Much like most actors in Hollywood these days, Douglas had been wanting to jump on the comic book movie bandwagon. But for a good reason actually as he explained to Coming Soon:

I’ve been dying to do a Marvel picture for so long. The script is really fun, the director is really good. Dylan (the actor’s 13-year-old son) will love it. He’ll have a picture he can see.

Douglas is experiencing some critical acclaim as of late. His most recent work as Liberace in Steven Soderbergh’s Behind the Candlebra netted the actor a Golden Globe award. And carrying on from that perfomance, Douglas says that he wants to bring a level of surprise to his role as the first Ant-Man, HANK pYM:

Sometimes – like (when) they didn’t see you for Liberace – you’ve got to shake them up a little bit and have some fun.

And that’s all I want from an Edgar Wright movie, fun. Something which has this at the top of my list, more than the Batman vs Superman movie. And if you know me and my Batman fetish, then you’ll understand just how much I’m looking forward to Ant-Man.
