You should be used to the drill by now. Just before the release of a new, for example, James Bond film, the latest franchise entry is heralded as the best ever made! Time and time again, sequels are hyped like this, and right now, Captain America: The Winter Soldier is getting the same treatment. If early reviews and word of mouth is to be believed, it’s the best Marvel movie made to date.
So, today we want to know if you find yourself pumped up by such early praise? Or in your increasingly cynical state does such hype actually put you off, and make you more resistant to a movie? Alternatively, do you simply brush off all the buzz and just wait to watch the movie yourself before forming an opinion. Let us know where you stand.

I am pumped, I am also pissed that I was only notified last night that the pre-screening is tonight! 🙁

I wait until I see it for myself.
When it comes to marketing everything new is always better, even when it’s not – that’s just how it works. Other peoples’ opinions don’t really register much because some of my favourite movies seem to be universally reviled, like for example Sucker Punch.

It’s harder to bullshit people these days – your cachet as a reviewer would fall quite quickly if you were hyping rubbish. So I think more often than not a movie does live up to the fanfare. But whether it satisfies is a matter of taste.
