What we need right now, is a new franchise. Sure, there may be capes a’plenty between Warner Bros and DC, but that’s not for everybody. What we need, is something that is older, more mythic in nature. It’s time to head back to Camelot, and it looks like Guy Ritchie has found his King Arthur in the form of a certain son of anarchy.
Guy Ritchie’s new franchise kicks off with Charlie “Pacific Rim” Hunnam helping to bring the Arthurian legend to life. Knights Of The Roundtable: King Arthur is currently scheduled for release in June 2016, and will see the british filmmaker put his own spin on the epic myth. Hunnam won’t be alone, as Idris Elba will once again be mentoring him, while Elizabeth Olsen is in talks for the female lead, presumably that of Guinevere.
The film currently has a script from Joby “Awake” Harold, that will be the first of a six movie franchise if everything works out. And that’s a damn good foundation to start from. Ritchie and Hunnam are locked in for several years on the project, which sounds like a great pairing to me between vision and charisma.
Knights Of The Roundtable: King Arthur is also a working title at the moment for the film, so this could also change. But it does make sense if each film plans to focus on a different knight along the way, with potential titles such as Knights Of The Roundtable: Galahad and Knights Of The Roundtable: Lancelot being thrown around.
That’s just me guessing however. But I like where this future franchise is going.

And who will act out Merlin’s role? Mmm, I vote for Sir Patrick Stewart!
