When Hollywood jumps on a bandwagon, they make sure they land. Not only are we getting the musical Peter Pan Live! (starring Christoper Walken as Hook) on 14 December 2014, there’s also the modern day take on Peter Pan and the Lost Boys TV series tentatively titled League of Pan in development; but wait, there’s more!  There’s the feature movie simply titled Pan, starring Levi Miller as Peter Pan, Hugh Jackman as Blackbeard, Garrett Hedlund as Hook & Rooney Mara as Tiger Lily – and we’ve got some character posters below.

Pan is to be a new take on the origin of the eternal child and is “the story of an orphan who is spirited away to the magical Neverland. There, he finds both fun and dangers, and ultimately discovers his destiny — to become the hero who will be forever known as Peter Pan.”

Anyone else spot the little pan pipes medallion Peter Pan is wearing? I like the look of Hook – he has the whole suave pirate thing going on, but no sign of the hook? Tiger Lily has a nice stylised look to her as well, but doesn’t look particularly Native American as per the books. Blackbeard though, not sold on that look at all – looks a bit over the top and needs more hair. Makes me wonder if they’re trying to prevent any confusion between him & Captain Jack Sparrow. What do you think?

Pan also stars Amanda Seyfried as Mary, but no character poster has been released. Also no mention of Wendy or Nick Tinkerbell as yet. Based on the characters created by JM Barrie, Pan is directed by Joe Wright (Hanna, Anna Karenina) with the screenplay by Jason Fuchs (Ice Age: Continental Drift) and is due for release in the US on 17 July 2015.
