Move over Kim K, something legitimately awesome broke the internet last week. After months of rumours, speculation, and leaks, the teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released… and the crowd went wild!

Already we’ve over-analysed the trailer frame by frame, had a flood of trailer parodies and fan art, and, because it’s apparently never too soon, someone has gone and gotten a tattoo.

Now, I’m not saying that I’m not a Star Wars fan, but I’ve only watched the trailer once. Feel free to gasp in shock and outrage! Seriously though, when I’m excited about a movie I tend to shy away from getting too much information about it. I’m not afraid of spoilers as such, but I like to go into a cinema with fewer expectations.

Judging by what’s been happening on the internet since Friday, it looks like I might be alone in this opinion. So, everyone that’s on the hype train, I want to know why you decided to board. If you’ve watched the trailer on loop for the past couple of days, let me know your thoughts! And if you haven’t watched it all, and you’re brave enough to admit that, tell us why you’re keeping yourself in the dark.

I don’t have the willpower for that. I have watched the StarWars trailer like 10 times already. I have easily watched each Age of Ultron trailer over 10 times. Guardians of the Galaxy I must of watched each trailer 30 plus times looking for snippets.

You’re not alone. I’ve watched the official trailer once, and the George Lucas-directed parody trailer once.

Only watched the trailer because I wanted to see how if was shaping up, and it looks pretty cool which is enough for me. I won’t watch anything else until the movie’s out because a) I already know I’ll go watch it so it’s not like I’m trying to make up my mind about it & b) it’ll be more fun for me to catch it fresh.

Irrespective of how the movie turns out, you have to admit that that was a superbly put together teaser trailer. They gave us our first look at the main newcomers to the cast and threw in enough hooks (see: cross-hilt lightsaber) to get fans really talking, but ultimately told us next to nothing about the story or the characters. Which is exactly what a teaser trailer should do – keep all the surprises for the actual movie!

My favourite bit was the X-Wings flying over the water.

I like that the teaser gave away pretty much nothing regarding the plot, personally I’ve watched it a few times because boredom and also some of the parodies. Am I on the hype train? Na, ask me again in November next year though

I will admit that the AoU trailer got a ton of repeats for me though…
