I’d like to believe that The Accountant is actually some kind of parallel universe version of Batman. After all, they’re both geniuses with a secret identity, has a dubious morality, a knack for weaponry and, oh yeah, both are played by Ben Affleck. There’s no hint of Affleck’s Accountant being into flying mammal cosplay though in this new trailer for the film, but it does show that he may be equally as effective at taking out his enemies.

Check the trailer below.

Christian Wolff (Ben Affleck) is a math savant with more affinity for numbers than people. Behind the cover of a small-town CPA office, he works as a freelance accountant for some of the world’s most dangerous criminal organizations. With the Treasury Department’s Crime Enforcement Division, run by Ray King (J.K. Simmons), starting to close in, Christian takes on a legitimate client: a state-of-the-art robotics company where an accounting clerk (Anna Kendrick) has discovered a discrepancy involving millions of dollars. But as Christian uncooks the books and gets closer to the truth, it is the body count that starts to rise.

Ever since Affleck 2.0 showed up on the scene in 2010 with The Town, he’s been continuously firing on all cylinders, and it doesn’t look like he’s slowing down one bit for this.

The Accountant was directed by Gavin O’Connor (Warrior), and also stars Anna Kendrick, J.K. Simmons, Jon Bernthal, Jean Smart, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Jeffrey Tambor and John Lithgow. It is scheduled for release on October 14, 2016.
