Passengers

If you thought December was a time to spend money on Christmas gifts and good food, you’d be mistaken. It’s a time to indulge your inner geek and watch sci-fi movies at the cinema. Yes, for most that would mean watching Rogue One at least five times, but it’s not the only sci-fi film that will be out to take your money, as the Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence led Passengers is due out two weeks later on December 30th.

So, make sure you have some cash left over after your holiday splurge to treat yourself to a sci-fi movie that looks like it will be a little slower and deeper than what you’d expect from a Star Wars movie. But that’s not a bad thing as all. Films like Arrival have taught us that sci-fi doesn’t have to be loud and fast and can actually be even better if it makes you think a little.

Everything we’ve seen about Passengers so far has been really good, so will this one change our mind at all:

Nope, it does not. I still want to watch it. Yes, the romance might get in the way of any otherwise decent movie, but it’s certainly looking interesting. The trailers for this movie have done a good job at providing a good background for the story without revealing any of the secrets. Hopefully, those are secrets worth holding out for.

You can view the full synopsis below:

Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt are two passengers onboard a spaceship transporting them to a new life on another planet. The trip takes a deadly turn when their hibernation pods mysteriously wake them 90 years before they reach their destination. As Jim and Aurora try to unravel the mystery behind the malfunction, they begin to fall for each other, unable to deny their intense attraction… only to be threatened by the imminent collapse of the ship and the discovery of the truth behind why they woke up.
