Done with drones, Ghost Recon: Breakpoint is moving on to Terminators

The limited time event will see players attempting to quell the rise of killer robots and cyborgs while earning exclusive in-game loot.

I’ve made it no secret that I was never a fan of Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, considering it a real step down from the wild and unpredictable chaos that was its predecessor, Wildlands. One of the things that didn’t resonate with players was the live service model of the game, something which Wildlands also incorporated to some extent but never leant on to the extent that Breakpoint did. While the implementation of those features is still shoddy, the games-as-service model has at least allowed Ubisoft to get a little crazy with Breakpoint, implementing what will no doubt be the game’s most memorable event to date as the Ghosts are forced to go toe to toe with T-800’s in a Terminator tie-in event.

If you think about it, the setting is almost the perfect excuse to have T-800’s walking around the place. Skell Tech, the prominent future-solutions company that established itself on Breakpoint’s fictional island of Aurora would totally develop some form of killer robot in the future if they’re incredibly savage drones are any kind of indication. Mission 1 of the event will start today, January 29th, and will see players meeting a new NPC Rasa Aldwin who apparently travelled from the future to warn the world of the impending robot wars. The event will run for a few days, ending on February 6th, and will see players gunning down plenty of red-eyed killer robots.

Doing so will also net them some new event exclusive items such as the MK14 Terminator Rifle, Uzi submachine gun and face paint that resembles a battle-damaged T-800. This hasn’t been the first time Ghost Recon has crossed over with cheesy 80’s action franchises as The Predator was added as a mission to Wildlands back in 2017, an addition which was cool if not a touch uninspired. Yet we all know the cross over that will take Breakpoint from being a “meh” game to a good game is Total Recall. Make it happen, Ubisoft.

Yeah, You start up the game and it becomes chore instantly once you start running around. Complete failure. Live service meh. They have Division, Don’t know what they were thinking with this one.

Too bad the game is worse than the last Terminator movie.

Haven’t seen it, but I read all the spoilers and watch a few reviews. It’s not something I want to see. It’s got decent scores on RT from critics and audiences but it flopped at the box office. Not sure how that’s possible.

I watched it and it was actually pretty damn good.
I reckon it flopped because everyone figured it would the same crap as the last 3 that were made.
But they made good changes. Check it out.

Nah, like I said, I read all the spoilers. Not a fan at all of all the changes they made.

If you watch it, it feels like a natural progression to T2. For first time since T2, it made sense.

I feel they never really pushed the story on tho. Just another chapter, no closure..

..just fight, run, fight, run, blah, blah..At least T2 had the blowing up of Cyberdine systems to alter the future as a good distraction from this trope.

We need a movie based only in the future I reckon. Maybe an end to the war is needed here 😉 At least the augmented chick is a decent female action lead.

For me, they nailed the absolute relentlessness of the terminator back. They HAD to just run, there wasn’t time for anything else.
If they had to bring in more story and also action, it’d be a much longer movie!
And yeah, that aug lass was a damn fine action lead.

If you read the spoilers than the thing that happened in the beginning of the movie is what put me off. It is like why bother with the first 2 movies. So as a sequel story wise i was a bit bummed. But as a standalone movie i enjoyed it.

The “thing” in the beginning iw what irked me the most. Why even phone the actor, could’ve saved money by doing the thing offscreen

I am a fan of the director, Tim Miller. But not a fan of the physical act of going to a movie house.

There is a opportunity I sense. Escape from Tarkov is the new thing, Hardcore survival shooter. If I had say, which I don’t, I would re-jig the game or adapt it to make it more like that. At this point it couldn’t hurt and the traditional Ghost Recon fans would probably enjoy that.

I guess they are still trying to salvage something of the train wreck that was Breakpoint!
