Nobuo Uematsu scored some of the most memorable moments in Final Fantasy history. In fact, I have mp3s of all his game sound tracks from FFI through till FFX. Now, he has a surreal, fully-scored picture e-book launching.
Coming in August to the iTunes store, Blik-0 is an e-book with three original music tracks, including two with lyrics by Nobuo Uematsu. As he explains:
“I wanted readers to recognize the happiness you can find in everyday life, which you often ignore because they are too close to you, and the importance of kindness and respect to others.”
The story centers around a robot, Blik-0, who was built with functions to emulate the human heart and brain. As he moves through his life, he struggles with feelings such as sadness, heartache, anger and love… so basically the average range of emotions for Final Fantasy fans.
It may seem funny that Acttil is publishing this, but as they explain on their site:
Acttil is a videogame publisher, but also a curious entity that will take on any project we think is interesting and awesome!
I suppose that means that this ebook will be interesting and awesome. Yay!

I love the premise, even though AI has been done a lot in the past, it’s something I’ve always enjoyed. Bicentennial Man, Short Circuit, Bladerunner, even Prometheus.
