It’s been a while since we’ve seen King Arthur on the big screen. The last notable effort was in 2004, with Antoine Fuqua directing a solid but forgettable epic that gave the legend a more Romanesque feel. Still, you can’t keep a good myth down, especially when it’s not attached to fees that have to be paid to rights holders. And Arthur shall return, in 2016.Mark July 22 2016 on your calendar, as that’s the date that shall see the Guy Ritchie directed King Arthur movie pulled from the stone. Warner Bros has set that date for the re-imagining, with the project said to be influenced by Thomas Mallory’s “Le Morte d’Arthur,” published in 1485. Wich had too many words, and not enough pictures for my juvenile mind.
Ritchie has a busy schedule right now. The director’s next film The Man From UNCLE is out on January 16, 2015. From there, he’ll be jumping straight into work on King Arthur. As for the date, this film will be going up against the likes of Ice Age 5 and the next Planet of the Apes movie. Expect some tight competition.

Every morning that I get up I wonder why there isn’t a Spiderman re-re-reboot.
