We don’t talk enough about original movies here, so here’s one which caught my attention: Apex. It currently has Darren Lynn “SAW some sequels” attached to direct it, and by the sounds of things, this could be 1980s action movies meets video games. That sounds crazy to me. I LOVE IT!
Courtesy of Heat Vision, here’s the synopsis for Apex which sounds like the ultimate 1980s love letter:
“Bousman sees Apex as ‘a love letter to the sci-fi films I grew up watching with my dad, such as Alien, Predator, Enemy Mine, Tremors. But I also want it to have the more modern feel of some of the recent video games I am currently playing, like Halo and Call of Duty.‘ “
Sounds awesome, although how the hell Bousman intends to mix 1980s unrealistic action with realistic action is beyond me. Whatever route Bosman does take though, you can expect there to be plenty of action on the big screen:
This can be a balls-to-the-walls action fantasy and it’s franchisable outside of the movie universe. There is a whole world to explore with Apex.
With San Diego Comic Con around the corner, expect some concept work to surface for the film, which currently has Joe Di Maio, Aaron Ray, and Cavanaug attached to produce.
