Tournament Structure and Schedule
The tournament is split into two event: The Group Stage (Feb 25th – 28th) and Main Event (March 2nd – 6th).
The Group Stage is a simple format of Team A plays Team B, Team C plays Team D. The winners of each match then face off the Winner’s Match, with the winning team advancing to the upper bracket. The two losing teams then face off with the loser falling into the loser bracket, and the winner going on to face the loser of the winner’s match. The winner of the final game advances to the upper bracket, and loser drops to the lower bracket. Got it? Good.
All matches are best-of-three, so there’s plenty of Dota 2 to watch.
The Main Event is a double-elimination bracket with the two teams from each group going into the upper bracket, and the losing two teams going into the lower bracket. The first and second round of the lower bracket is best-of-one, with the winner bracket remaining best-of-three. The Grand Final will be a best-of-five match with no winner’s advantage.
The Schedule is quite harsh, since it’s in China, which means the games kick off at 3:00 AM (CET) but continue throughout the morning.
If you’re a Dota 2 fan be sure to catch the action. There’s one more game today, going live at 14:00.
