There are three things that you can count on in life: Death, taxes and Kervyn buying extended editions of Middle Earth movies. With The Hobbit having wrapped up last year in a massive spectacle that introduced audiences to the horror of a CGI dwarf Billy Connolly, comes news that a super-duper extended cut of that flick is on the way.
According to ComicBook.com, this extended version of The Battle of The Five Armies will throw in an extra 20 minutes of footage, and be rated R. Because seriously, no child should have to witness extended Billy CGInolly scenes. Other features that will be included in the Blu-Ray:
- Commentary with director/producer/writer Peter Jackson and co-producer/writer Philippa Boyens
- The Appendices – The Appendices Parts XI and XII showcase a chronological history of the filming of The Battle of the Five Armies, documenting the work done on set chronologically through the three shooting blocks and in the world of its digital effects.
- New Zealand: Home of Middle-earth – Part 3
That’ll cost a few bucks then. And there’s not a chance in whatever passes for Middle Earth hell that I’ll be sitting through an even more bloated version of that film when it hits the market in November.
