Fallout 76 drops next month, giving players a chance to take a scenic tour of a very scorched Earth. Set in an irradiated world of crumbling ruins, bandit gangs and gruesome mutants, it’s safe to say that you’re going to need a fair bit of processing power to see the game at its prettiest. Pretty ugly that is. HAW! With a beta arriving soon on PC as well, now’s a great time to see if your rig has what it takes to render the post apocalypse in all of its horrific glory.
Good news: If your PC was capable of running Fallout 4 a few years ago, you’ll probably have no real difficulty in running Fallout 76. While the game is more demanding on the graphical side, you shouldn’t have to spend too many bottle caps to ensure that your machine is up to scratch. Here’s the list of minimum and recommended requirements from good ol’ Bethesda:
Fallout 76 Minimum PC Requirements
Requires 64-bit processor and operating system
- OS: Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit OS required)
- Processor: Intel Core i5-6600k 3.5 GHz/AMD Ryzen 3 1300X 3.5 GHz or equivalent
- Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 780 3GB/AMD Radeon R9 285 2GB or equivalent
- Memory: 8GB RAM
- Storage: 60GB of free disk space
Fallout 76 Recommended PC Requirements
- Requires 64-bit processor and operating system
- OS: Windows 7/8.1/10
- Processor: Intel Core i7-4790 3.6 GHz/AMD Ryzen 5 1500X 3.5 GHz
- Graphics: Nvidia GTX 970 4GB/AMD R9 290X 4GB
- Memory: 8GB RAM
- Storage: 60GB of free disk space
Meanwhile, console owners will need to ensure that their machines have the following gear to ensure a smooth gameplay experience
- A smug sense of self-satisfaction at being able to merely pop a disc in and get the game rolling with minimum tinkering fuss
Oh, I think I more than fit the bill for the console requirements. That, and I don’t think my Voodoo 3000 graphics accelerator on my Pentium II can handle the game at maximum graphics. Hell, I doubt I can even play a Fallout 76 Boy song on that hunk of junk.

Hahahaha that is where you are wrong kiddo. Firstly there will be a day 1 patch. Secondly PC is the ONLY platform that does not have to redownload the game when the beta ends.
Seems the PCMasterRace wins once again.
Yay!

Minimum Intel Core i5-6600k? Eish wena, that means I barely make it? Luckily I am not interested in this game 🙂

I built my rig in 2010, and the CPU is an AMD Phenom II x6 1090t (damn solid for the time, but more than long in the tooth now). In ~2014, I upgraded the GPU to a GTX 960. It can run Fallout 4 on high settings with no issues. The poor Phenom II is not even close to a match for an i5-6600k.
However, since most of the USB ports are wearing out, the main audio port is toast, and the hard drive is in the process of dying, I have to get a new system, anyways (which I’ve picked out and will get tonight). Goodnight, sweet Prince.
Hello, i7-8700k and RTX 2080. 🙂

Got my beta installed.
Now they should just give us some humane time slots to test in.
