A 2014 release date finds a way for JURRASIC PARK 4

Keep an eye on the ripples in your cup of water and don’t…make…any…sudden…movements! A fourth Jurassic Park film has been lying dormant for several years now, with Joe Johnston’s trilogy capper having appeared way back in the Cretaceous age of 2001.

Fast forward a decade, and Universal Studios is finally ready to get the ball rolling on a making the trilogy a quadrilogy. And they’re being pretty ambitious with the project, as they’ve set a release date of 2014 to bring the iconic dinos out of development extinction.

And here’s the rest of the super-comprehensive info, from THR’s Borys Kit, summarized in two tweets that you most likely didn’t see coming. Clever girl.

There’s two ways to look at this announcement. One is to espouse chaos theory arguments and claim that a rushed schedule is going to ruin the fourth film worse than a direct-to-DVD afternoon special, the other is to hope that  the years of pre-production, scripts and ideas since JP3 landed will have an influence here. Deadline is of the opinion that the script which will be used, will be the one produced by Rise of the Planet of the Apes scribes Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver.

And while Senor Spielbergo won’t be helming the project, he is on board to produce as stated above. Hopefully with a heavy hand though, and not just for title credits. But then again, with a gap in his schedule thanks to Robopacalypes, one might dare to hope.

Because I sure as hell do not want to see this Jurassic Park 4 made.

I’m totally undecided about this. I love everything JP.

But that 3rd film man. If Spielberg isn’t directing, just leave it be.

Why not make a Dino-riders movie?

More than anything, I want this to be the closing of the saga and featuring most of the original cast to some degree.

I don’t want any government conspiracies involved, nor do I want dinos running through New York. Give us back the original complex on the island, terrify us against insane odds and put Neill Blomkamp at the helm.
