A third BOONDOCKS SAINTS film is "definitely" in the works, according to Norman Reedus

The Boondock Saints is the very definition of a Bovril film. You either hate it or love it. But based on past guilty pleasures here, it’s safe to say that quite a few people here love to dip their toast in the liquidised losing horse extract.

The Boondock Saints sequel, while full of the trademark style of the first film, was rather lacking in the heart department that had made the original Troy Duffy directed tale so likeable. Here’s hoping that a third film can set the McManus brothers back on track.

Norman Reedus, who portrays the brother Murphy in the films, spoke to IFC about his role in The Walking Dead, and let slip that he was meeting up with his In Nomine Patris cohorts to go discuss the third film:

I’m in L.A. right now. “I’m meeting with [star] Sean [Patrick Flanery] and Troy tonight. I just landed a couple hours ago and tonight I’m going over to Troy’s house with Sean. It’s definitely in the works. Look for it. It’s gonna be crazy.

Sounds like that Boondocks Saints TV show isn’t taking off, hence the idea of a third film. And while Duffy, Troy and Reedus aren’t exactly talking scripts or shooting schedules just yet, it’s nice to know that the holy trinity of guns and Irish violence is looking to complete the loop with a third film in that universe.

I know the feeling mate. My gods, I thought, really, it can’t be THAT bad. I spent a month under the stairs with my underpants on my head and pencils sticking out my nose…

The world does not need a third Boondocks Saints. It didn’t need a second one and, if we take Willem Dafoe out of the equation, didn’t need the first one either. The only reason why it holds such appeal is because everyone snuck into the cinema and saw it when they were 12.

Didn’t like the second one either, they focused less on narrative and more on “ZOMG!” and strange mexicans.
