The latest bit of casting for the White House Die Hard flick has just announced that they’ve found the right man to take on the responsibility of being the president, with none other than Aaron “Two-Face” Eckhart securing the role.
And for a political role, that’s kind of fitting, we think.
With shooting scheduled to begin in September, things are looking good for the Antoine Fuqua directed flick. Gerard Butler has the lead role, as a former Secret Service agent who happens to be on hand when Terrorists bring the fight to the Oval Office.
And considering the number of action roles that Eckhart has been in, we’ll probably also see a president who isn’t afraid to get his suit dirty, when the action ramps up, joining a club of movie presidents that includes Bill Pullman and Harrison Ford.
Fuqua is going to have to pull out all the stops for Olympus Has Fallen, as he’ll be facing some competition in the West Wing field from director Roland Emmerich, who has signed up Channing Tatum and Maggie Gyllenhaal to help defend his White House catastrophe film, White House Down.
Looks like 2013 is going to be the year of political rivalries, in more ways than one.
