If there’s one thing that weekends were designed for, it’s going to go see a new movie with your loved one. Or your friends. Oh hell, just go watch with yourself then.

American cinemas saw several new releases last weekend, but only one could be king of the box office. Here’s a look at the top ten films and their grossing numbers from those three days.Liam “F$@k Wolves” Neesons’ latest film, The Grey, has premiered at the number one spot, earning the man versus the wild thriller over $20 million in box office receipts.

Surprisingly, the image of Kate Beckinsale in a skintight suit didn’t manage to beat Neeson and his bar-room brawl tactics of survival, with Underworld: Awakening ending up in the second spot, while the adaptation of Janet Evanovich novel, One for the money, was pushed back into third place.

Here’s a look at the top ten of last week and their respective grosses over the three day period, thanks to Collider:

  •  The Grey $20,000,000
  • Underworld Awakening $12,500,000
  • One For the Money $11,750,000
  • Red Tails $10,400,000
  • Man on a Ledge $8,250,000
  • Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close $7,145,000
  • The Descendants $6,550,000
  • Contraband $6,532,200
  • Beauty & the Beast 3D $5,345,000
  • Haywire $4,000,000

Don’t expect to see the same numbers next week however, as it’s going to be Super-bowl season time in America, and much like us with the rugby, nothing stands in the way of some of that there foosball.

I cannot wait for The Grey. I’ve been frothing at the mouth for it, ever since I saw that first trailer.

Meh it really doesn’t excite me… I’d take Kate in the bodysuit any day

Liam Neeson punches a wolf with the broken bottles taped to his knuckles. How in the hell can you read that sense and not immediately want to grow a beard, chop down a tree and then go watch this movie?!
