We’ve heard a few times already that Ryan Reynolds was personally pushing the folks at Fox to try and get upcoming, long gestating comic-book adaptation Deadpool rated R, so as to stay true to the character’s crazy comic book roots. And then yesterday, Reynolds unfortunately dropped the bad news on Twitter: He had seemingly lost the battle with the bean-counting suits and Deadpool was going to be PG-13.
Reynolds, ever a jokester, played light with the matter though, telling fans not to worry.
#deadpool – So we make the blood green. (Views expressed here are mine – not necessarily those of adorable, taint-punchers releasing films)

A PG-13 #deadpool will still have 4th wall breaking, a shit-ton of action and at least 3 chimichangas. Zero need to panic. I promise. — Ryan Reynolds (@VancityReynolds) April 1, 2015
Despite his consoling words, fans were of course still upset though. Deadpool’s unhinged violence and motor-mouth outbursts are such a huge part of his character, that this was definitely disappointing to see.
But damn that Reynolds, and his jokey ways, because it seems that we had all forgot to look at the date yesterday! Yes, it was all revealed to be a gigantic April Fools’ Day joke, and in fact Deadpool would indeed be getting the R-rating it deserves. What’s more, Reynolds made the announcement this morning – in full costume! – in this hilarious video with Mario Lopez.
Reynolds then took to Twitter again to expand on exactly what to expect in the movie, which apparently includes… unicorn sex?
February 12th. There will be blood. Guns. F-bombs. And graphic, expertly lit French Unicorn sex. #deadpoolRatedR @deadpoolmovie #Aprilpools

Whoo hoo!
Deadpool also stars Morena Baccarin as Copycat, T.J. Miller as Weasel, Gina Carano as ,and Ed Skrein as an unknown villain. It is set to release – in all its foul-mouthed, blood soaked glory – on February 12th, 2016. Here’s the official synopsis:
Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

I don;t know much about Deadpool. But I do hope this works out for Reynolds. He’s had some really shitty luck with movies.
