Get off da choppa! The script’s done, the teaser poster is out, and now Arnold Schwarzengger has dropped a bit of a bombshell – he could reprise another of his iconic roles, that of Major Alan “Dutch” Schaefer, in The Predator.
In a recent interview with The Arnold Fans (and via The Playlist) the last action hero confirmed he’ll be meeting with director Shane Black shortly:
I haven’t talked with [Shane Black] yet but I’m going to meet with him for lunch sometime soon. Just as soon as I’m finished with [Arnold’s Sports Festival] and ‘The Apprentice’ and all this stuff. But I will get together with him. If there is any news, we’ll of course let you know right away. There’s also a meeting coming up soon about ‘Conan,’ about the project moving forward.
While I’d be very happy to see Dutch battle that uniquely attractive and controversially affectionate critter one more time, I just wonder how it’d work. Black’s confirmed that The Predator isn’t a reboot of the franchise but a sequel to 2010’s Predators, itself a sequel that was set numerous years after the events of Predator and Predator 2 – so to my mind Dutch would be rather old by now; possibly a cameo in some kind of mentor role?
Unless the crossovers aren’t complete and The Terminator franchise will be rolling up into the Alien universe as well and Dutch is really a T-800 and now my brain hurts and I need a nap.
One thing is sure though, I bet the Predator will never see him coming. What do you think?

Bring him back! The Predator wouldn’t stand a chance against all the steroids and cigars!
