2013 was pretty much the year of Superman. A new film, new appearances in animation and saving the world 24/7, despite the fact that the last son of Krypton is over 75 years old. Another comic book hero also just turned 75, although don’t expect the dark knight to engage in this kind of celebration. Despite being old enough to claim a pension, Batman is still doing what he does best. And that’s being awesome/Batman.
For the 75th anniversary celebrations, Warner Bros is showing off two new short animations of the orphaned crime-puncher. The first one, directed by the legendary Bruce Timm who brought Batman even further into the mainstream with his critically lauded animation series in the early 1990s, returns the caped crusader to his mystery roots. Check it out:
While that clip celebrates the past of Batman, the next one will look to his future. Batman Beyond’s Darwyn Cooke is busy on that clip, which will be seen at WonderCon later this year, showing off the Tomorrow Knight. There’ll be a lot more Batman this year as well. Two new films, Son of Batman and Arkham Assault arrive in 2014, the live action Gotham TV series will debut later and the final game in the Arkham series, Arkham Knight, is also out in 2014.
If you’ll pardon me, I need to go grab a slice of the Batman cake before Bane breaks it.

they also launched a new comic for this, a WEEKLY series called Batman Eternal. First issue was awesome. But can’t see how they’ll keep the arc going for 52 issues.
