Before Christian Bale took on the mantle of the bat-cowl in 2005’s Batman Begins, there were plenty of other actors out there that were also on the shortlist for the reboot. But how could director Christoper Nolan and his producers be certain that they had found their Batman?
After all, they needed someone who could show emotion, multiple personalities and kick ass. The solution was simple” Throw an actor into some hot rubber and make ’em act. ACT I SAY!
If you haven’t got enough Bat-DVDs, then you’re most likely going to be putting down some cash for the Dark Knight Trilogy: Ultimate Collector’s Edition. It’s got all the content from the previous DVDs, plus a bunch of extras. Such as how Nolan got all his potential Batman to audition for the role by slapping on the bat-suit from Batman Forever, AKA as the Panther suit in enthusiast circles, and making them do several scenes. Scenes which included Amy ‘Lois Lane” Adams as well. Here’s Bale doing his bat-thang:
Interesting, isn’t it? It’s clear that the suit itself would need to be redesigned for the vision of Nolan, as the panther suit looked a tad cheesy. But holy bat-shark repellant, Bale is still intense underneath that cowl which apears to have his face in a cobra-clutch. The voice is less raspy, and I dig it.
Extra bonus: Cillian Murphy also auditioned to be Batman, before Nolan cast him as the Scarecrow instead.
