As far as casts go, The Guardians of the Galaxy film is comprised of a crew that happens to not be your usual suspects. A human, a walking kill machine, the most dangerous green-skinned lady in the cosmos, a talking tree and of course, Rocket Raccoon.
A CGI version of that rubbish bin diving character is most likely going to steal the show. But don’t think of RR as light comic relief in animated form according to Chriss Pratt, the Star Lord himself.
Speaking to Access Hollywood, Pratt explained that RR was going to be one haunted bit of CGI:
You think it’s a cartoon character, but it’s not, it’s a very real creature. [Rocket Raccoon has been] tortured his whole life and no one else likes him, so he’s lonely and he’s angry and it’s like, [there are] all these elements [to the character]. You sort of forget about that, you wouldn’t think about, [and] hopefully will come to life. I think it will and that’s why they hired a really good actor to do the role.
That actor being Bradley Cooper, who’s swopping a hangover for some voice work:
I could not be more excited that Bradley Cooper is voicing Rocket Raccoon. It’s a great character. It’s probably the best character in the movie, just because it’s not what you would expect.
Guardians of the Galaxy is out next year August, and stars Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Rooker, Ophelia Lovibond, Benicio Del Toro, Lee Pace, Karen Gillan, Djimon Honsou, Gregg Henry, Glenn Close and John C. Reilly.
