Sweet float my boat Batman! Russell Crowe as the legendary biblical figure? That’s what director Darren Aronofsky is planning, should he get the green light from his financial backers.

Fresh off his hit film Black Swan, the famed director is trying to get the infamous Australian actor on board for the title role in his biblical film, which will be produced by New Regency and Paramount film.

While Deadline reports that Arnofsky also considered Liam “Badass” Neeson for the role, it’s now clear that he’s determined to have Crowe in the lead position rather.

Gladiator plotter John Logan recently rewrote the script for the Aronofsky project, with Ari Handel Aronofsky, Scott Franklin and Mary Parent joining the director in producing roles.
