DEADPOOL 2 may have an eye on Kyle Chandler for the role of Cable

Cable-Chandler

Sometimes, when life breaks both of your arms and your sweetheart has run off with your prized Voltron ring, you’ve just got to remember that every dinosaur feared the T-Rex and hit life in the face with an acrobatic spinning roundhouse kick. It’s one of the many, many lesson that the Deadpool movie taught me this year (like wearing brown pants to a horror movie festival) and my own-switch has been thoroughly hammered with excitement over the news of a Deadpool sequel being greenlit.

One that will poke fun at superhero sequels and feature Deadpool teaming up with Cable to save the world, one smartass quip at a time. But who’s playing Cable? Just about every elderly gentleman in Hollywood wants the role it seems with everyone from Ron Perlman to Arnold Schwarzenegger linked to it. But here’s another rumour to throw on the fire as another actor’s name has been thrown into the ring: Kyle Chandler.

Yes, that chap who always got the Early Edition newspaper and has been seen in Friday Night Lights is apparently being eyed to portray the time-traveling super-mutant from the future. That’s according to Mashable.com film reporter Jeff Sneider via CBR, who said in an episode of “Meet The Movie Press” that Chandler’s name had been thrown around for months. “I don’t know if he’s interested in that kind of thing,” Sneider said while urging listeners to take it all with a big pinch of sodium.

I’m just saying that’s the name that’s been out there.

There’s a big difference between having your name out there and accepting, but I’d dig to see Chandler in the role. It’d certainly be interesting, especially if his lucky pal Domino is in for the ride. Sneider teased that that role will be a “scene-stealer”, with Mackenzie “The Martian” Davis also being rumoured to be up for it. Wonder what Mackenzie would look like as the pale mutant? So did artist Bosslogic:

Deadpool 2 arrives in 2017. And may Apocalypse have mercy on your fancy rubber masturbating shoes when Tim Miller returns to direct it.

  1. Big pinch of salt with this to flair up the gout. He is not someone I would’ve associated with the role of Cable, but I’m no casting director, just a fan boy. Michael Biehn please.
