Step aside Chris Pratt, there’s a new bromance in town, and half of that team stars Dominic Cooper! Yes, the crazy-haired Preacher from Preacher is picking up a bit more than a bible in a Bourne-look-alike movie called Stratton. To be honest I have heard little to nothing about this spy thriller but it’s based on the popular Duncan Falconer novels (think John le Carre), so it may be worth watching. Have a look see at the trailer and let me know what you think. Also, back off, he’s mine!

Yup. It looks, well, like nothing that new to be honest. Directed by Simon West (Con Air), it feels rather generic. You’ve got the usual MI6 in trouble. Some terrorist with the motivational depth of a rice cracker* wanting to blow up London and a grisly looking soldier who will no doubt save the day while uncovering some conspiracy that we all saw coming a mile away. I am sorry! After seeing Jason Bourne, I am a bit jaded (as is Kerv if you read his review) and other than the fact Cooper is in this, I am not that interested. Still, perhaps (and I hope for this) I will be proven wrong.

Cooper stars alongside Tom Felton, Thomas Kretschmann, Derek Jacobi, Tyler Hoechlin, Connie Nielsen and Jake Fairbrother.

*This is an assumption based on all the other movies that look like this!

I have been an avid fan of movies ever since I discovered Santa Clause wasn't real, a day marked in my memory by my first viewing of It's a Wonderful Life, which wasn't so wonderful that day. Since then I've watched thousands of movies and even fooled my parents into putting me through uni to get a degree in the subject. I first started writing as a journalist for The South African Newspaper before moving onto communications for an NGO trying to save the planet. Unfortunately my recommendations to the CEO that we should all don rings imbued with the powers of earth, fire, wind, water and HEART went unheard. Now I pretend the end isn't nigh by hiding in movies.
