Ewan McGregor might be your next DOCTOR STRANGE

By the Kleptomaniac hands of Kervyn! Is there any actor who isn’t being approached to headline Doctor Strange? Much like Iron Man in the late 2000s, Dr Stephen Strange is a role that the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe could find itself anchored by, and whoever takes that position is going to need to carry a lot of weight on their shoulders. So who better than a former Jedi master as the sorcerer supreme?

With everyone from Joaquin Phoenix to Jude Law rumoured to have been approached to don the Eye of Agamotto, it’s kind of odd that Ewan McGregor’s name hasn’t been thrown into that ring yet. But Badass Digest‘s Devin Faraci reckons that the train spotter may in fact be in line for the part:

Yesterday a new source contacted me and said that Ewan McGregor had been prepping for the role – doing the usual research actors do when looking at taking on an adaptation or existing character. I contacted one of my usual sources and asked if this was true, and I was told “They’re looking at him.”

That’s some inspired casting right there. McGregor certainly has the right look (even without hair dye), and the acting chops that can stretch from serious to blockbuster should the need arise. Out of all the actors mentioned so far, he might just be my favourite rumoured mystic protector of our dimension.

Of course, the only problem here might be commitments to other rumoured projects, such as standalone Obi-Wan Kenobi movies in the Disney universe. Still, there’s the luxury of Disney owning both Marvel and Star Wars right now, so scheduling could be sorted. What do you reckon? Yay or nay for this particular bit of casting news?

Depending on how his Sandman flick goes, he may get tied up by Warner Bros/DC soon.
