If I were to ask you who Jesse Heiman is, there’s a pretty good chance you either wouldn’t be able to tell me at all, or you’d incorrectly guess that he’s the guy with the mustache from Mythbusters. But the fact is, whether you realize it or not, you’re actually very familiar with Heiman’s work, as with over 140 roles in movies and TV he is one of the most prolific actors of the last decade. He’s just mastered the art of being an extra. We’ve previously featured a clip of Heiman’s work, popping up in the backgroudn of just about everything from Spider-Man to America Pie 2 to Transformers, but now a kickstarter has appeared for a documentary entitled Jesse Heiman: World’s Greatest Extra, which aims to bring this hardworking young thespian the recognition he truly deserves!
James Cameron may have spent his last couple of years on a undersea holidays and hanging out with giant Smurfs, but he apparently hasn’t forgotten about Battle Angel Alita, the manga that he currently holds the feature film rights to. Cameron was over in Mexico City speaking at the TagDF technology forum, and while there he reportedly indicated the story’s themes of “trans-human exploration” has “haunted” him for years and that he plans to start production on it sometime in 2017, after he’s done wrapping up the Avatar movies.
If you were hoping to see more of Hayley Atwell’s Peggy Carter and were dismayed to find out she’s going to be playing an old, gray haired version of the character (well unless you’re into that kind of stuff. We don’t judge) in Captain America: Winter Soldier, then you’ll be happy to know that she’ll be reprising the more youthful version of her character, last seen in Captain America: The First Avenger, for the next of Marvel’s One-Shot short films, Agent Carter. The short film, which takes place a year after the first Cap film and sees Carter trying to track down the villainous Zodiac, is set to debut at Comic Con this weekend and will also be included on the Iron Man 3 blu ray, but we get to have sneak peek thanks to these images and pulpy poster.
If you read my review of World War Z earlier, you would have seen me mention the troubled production going through a bit of screenplay musical chairs. The entire third act of the film had to be rewritten and reshot at one point, but if you’d like to see how it was originally set to turn out, then check out this description of the film’s rather dark original ending. Obviously, be wary of SPOILERS for the film’s current ending.
Roll up on any of us while we’ve got earphones on, and… well, you’re likely to get punched in the throat, that’s what (we grew up in the rough streets of PE, yo!), but listen carefully pass the wet wheeze of your collapse trachea and you probably hear some Hans Zimmer, Michael Giacchino, Alan Silvestri or some other movie soundtrack composer’s efforts emanating from those headphones. We really love listening to film scores, and my personal current obsession is Zimmer’s Man of Steel OST. That’s a big budget flick, with a very important score, so I’m sure you guys have noticed it, but there have have already been a couple more superb ones this year that may have slipped through the cracks. Ever since tussling with “fookin’ prawns” in Neill Blomkamp’s District 9, local boytjie Sharlto Copley has been landing gig after gig in Hollywood. He’ll next be reuniting with Blomkamp for Elyisum and then again for Chappie, and also has The Europa Report, Spike Lee’s Oldboy remake and Disney’s Maleficent on the horizon. As the great Sam L. Jackson would say, he’s become a bad motherf@#$er. Which is rather apt, as he’s signed on to play the lead in Hardcore, a new first-person POV action flick to be written and directed by Russian newcomer Ilya Naishuller, who came to international recognition with his innovative short film “Bad Motherf@#$er”. The film caught the attention of Wanted and Night Watch director Timur Bekmanbetov, who will be producing Naishuller’s debut feature film.
There’s not much known about the story except that it “will feature sci-fi elements and find Copley killing a lot of bad guys to save a damsel in distress”, but it’s supposed to be following a similar visual aesthetic to “Bad Motherf@#$er” which we’ve featured previously but you can watch down below.
It’s been just over a month since Star Trek Into Darkness was released and if you still haven’t seen it yet, then you might not want to click the next link. Unless of course, you’ve already had the identity of that character – oh, you know the one – spoiled already, which is highly likely in today’s internet age.
BleedingCool is reporting that that character will soon be getting his own comic book series from IDW Publishing, revealing his origin story as hinted at in the film.

No, this is not a pic of Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt dressing up as War Machine for Halloween, but rather a new pic from director Doug Liman’s upcoming sci-fi actioner All You Need is Kill, which will apparently see the film’s two leads donning futuristing exo-suits that can haz all da gunz!
Nowadays, the words “fast” and “furious” are generally associated with big musclecars and even bigger muscles, but back in the day they were probably used to describe martial arts legend Bruce Lee. So I guess it’s kind of fitting that Justin Lin, the man that took the Fast and the Furious franchise from a cheesy movie about Vin Diesel pretending be a local boy from Chatsworth to a billion dollar box office behemoth, will be developing a TV project now based on an idea from Lee himself.
Just what that idea is, is anybody’s guess right now, but I’d be very surprised if it didn’t involve somebody being kicked in the face at some point in time.
It must be tough living in Batman’s shadow. I mean, he’s the goddamn Batman: He’s all shadow! But that’s exactly what young Dick Grayson had to endure, when he was became the Dark Knight’s sidekick, Robin. That and green pixie boots. Sure he eventually outgrew that heritage and silly costume and became his own man as Nightwing, the masked crusader of Bludhaven, but what if he was never adopted as Bruce Wayne’s ward, never had to be seen in public dressed like pedophile’s fantasy? Would he ever have become a hero, and if so, what type of hero would he be? That’s the premise of this new 6-part webseries from Hisonni Johnson (Olympia, Fight Night Legacy) titled Grayson: Year One.
