News about Lucasfilm’s first full animated feature, Strange Magic, dropped just the other day along with the release date – a surprisingly soon 23 January 2015. Well done on keeping the secret for so long, but now it’s out and so is the first trailer; and this may just be the animated movie we were looking for. Hit it!

 

 

You had my curiosity, now you have my attention. Going hand-in-song with that impressive animation and art direction is a strong voice cast that includes the likes of Evan Rachel Wood (Marianne), Meredith Anne Bull (Dawn), Maya Rudolph (Griselda), Peter Stormare (we’ll always have Berlin), Alan Cumming (Bog King) & Elijah Kelley (Sunny) among many others. Strange Magic is directed and co-written by Gary Rydstrom off of a story by George Lucas, with writing from Irene Mecchi and David Berenbaum as well. As mentioned above it’s due for release in the US on 23 January 2015.
