Everything tastes better with bacon – except for ice cream. I’ve never tried it, but I’m pretty sure bacon-flavoured ice cream would be terrible. Ice cream aside though, everything tastes better with bacon. And while that might not always apply to movies, Kevin Bacon is a stellar actor and hopefully this new film starring Kevin Bacon is all the better for his presence.

The Darkness, is thankfully not about that British rock band which wears their clothes too tight and sings way too high pitched, but actually a horror movie about things much, much more darker than that. And as with most horror stories these days, this one is seemingly based around some true (most likely made-up) story about a family that visits the Grand Canyon and brings home something a little more than your average t-shirt. The films plot seems fairly generic and follows a similar plot line to many other possession type films, but is backed by a stellar cast and production team, so hopefully is much better than what we typically get from the genre.

The film is being directed by Greg McClean (Wolf Creek) and based off a script that he co-wrote alongside Shayne Armstrong and Shane Krause. Alongside Bacon, the film will also star Radha Mitchell, David Mazouz, Lucy Fry, Matt Walsh, Jennifer Morrison and Parker Mack and is being produced by Blumhouse Tilt and Chapter One films.

The film is scheduled for release on May 13 this year in the US, but there is no official release date for South Africa as of yet.
