As faithful as Guillermo Del Toro’s take on Hellboy was, those films weren’t completely comic book accurate. I mean, not once did I see Hellboy attacked by a gun-wielding monkey. NOT. ONCE. Still! Those films had some visual charm to their PG-13 age restrictions, weaving Del Toro’s love of dark and dirty fantasy together with a streamlined take on classic Hellboy adventures.
2019 sees Hell’s favourite demon back in action, only this time with David Harbour wielding the almighty fist of doom. And so far? I like what I’m seeing. This Hellboy project looks darker, more brutal and still carries plenty of blue-collar (or maybe red-collar would be more apt) charm that Ron Perlman brought to the role.
It looks good! And so do these two new trailers for the flick, which are available in a work-safe green band format and a more devilish red band variety if you feel like starting your morning with some blood, guts and Hellboy cussing out a witch who happens to be a walking extinction-level event:
Based on the graphic novels by Mike Mignola, Hellboy, caught between the worlds of the supernatural and human, battles an ancient sorceress bent on revenge.
Hellboy is out on April 12 and also stars Ian McShane as Professor Broom, Milla Jovovich as the Nimue the Blood Queen, Sasha Lane as Alice Monaghan, Daniel Dae Kim as Ben Daimio and Penelope Mitchell as Ganeida, the only other being who may be able to stop the Blood Queen’s wrath from wiping out humanity.

Looks really cool but I still can’t get Ron Perlman’s voice out of my head, thinking that’s how he is supposed to sound.
